Trigger Point & Myofascial Release

That knot between your shoulder blades, the headache that starts in your neck, the calf that always feels tight — these are myofascial problems. We find the trigger points driving your pain, release them by hand, and fix the movement pattern that keeps recreating them.

What we treat

Muscle knots, referred pain and chronic tightness

Trigger points refer pain to surprising places — a knot in the upper back can cause a headache; a hip trigger point can mimic sciatica. Mapping the true source is the skill.

  • Chronic muscle knots — persistent tender spots in the neck, shoulders and back.
  • Tension headaches — pain referring from trigger points in the neck and upper back.
  • Referred pain patterns — pain felt far from its true muscular source.
  • Post-training muscle tightness — athletes and lifters with recurring hotspots.
  • Restricted movement — stiffness from fascial tightness rather than joint problems.
  • Desk-work muscle overload — upper traps and forearms that never switch off.
Your treatment

What a session involves

Every plan follows the ART method — Alignment to find the cause, Rehab to treat it, Training to make it last.

Map the pattern

Palpation assessment to locate active trigger points and trace where your pain is really coming from.

Release by hand

Sustained manual pressure, myofascial release and assisted stretching to deactivate the points.

Restore the glide

Mobility work for the surrounding fascia and joints so tissue moves freely again.

Stop the recurrence

Strengthening the weak, overloaded muscles and correcting the habits that keep knots returning.

Is this for you

Who it’s for

If massages feel wonderful for a day and change nothing by next week, you don’t need another massage — you need the pattern treated.

  • Desk workers with permanent knots between the shoulder blades.
  • Athletes with recurring tight spots that limit performance.
  • Anyone whose pain “moves around” from week to week.
  • People getting temporary relief from massages that never lasts.
  • Those with tension headaches rooted in neck and shoulder tightness.

A massage feels good for a day because it treats the knot. We treat the knot and the reason it formed — which is why our patients stop needing weekly sessions.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What does a trigger point actually feel like?

A taut band or nodule in the muscle that is tender to press and often reproduces your familiar ache — sometimes in a different spot, which is the hallmark of referred pain.

Is the treatment painful?

Expect deep, “good hurt” pressure during release and mild soreness for a day afterwards. Sharp or lingering pain is never the goal.

How long does the relief last?

Release alone gives days to weeks. Combined with the strengthening and habit correction in your plan, relief compounds instead of fading.

Why do my knots keep coming back?

Because the muscle is compensating for something — weak neighbours, poor posture or repetitive overload. Until that’s addressed, the knot is just a symptom.
