Rehab & Recovery

Hydrotherapy & Pool Rehab

Water changes the rules of rehab. Buoyancy unloads painful joints, warm water relaxes guarding muscles, and gentle resistance rebuilds strength — so you can train hard while your body heals.

What we treat

Low-impact recovery for joints, backs and athletes

In water you weigh a fraction of your land weight. Movements that are impossible or agonising on land become possible in the pool — which is exactly why hydrotherapy accelerates recovery.

  • Post-surgery joint rehab — knee, hip and shoulder surgery recovery with the joint protected.
  • Arthritis and chronic joint pain — pain-free movement that land exercise can't offer.
  • Chronic back pain — decompressed, supported spinal movement in warm water.
  • Sports conditioning without impact — fitness and agility work for injured athletes.
  • Balance and gait retraining — safe fall-free practice for neuro and elderly patients.
  • Weight-related joint overload — effective exercise without punishing the knees and back.
Your treatment

What a session involves

Every plan follows the ART method — Alignment to find the cause, Rehab to treat it, Training to make it last.

Poolside assessment

We assess on land first — your injury, surgical protocol and goals — then design your water programme.

Guided warm-water work

Supervised exercises in the pool: walking, range-of-motion, balance and gentle strengthening, all unloaded.

Progressive resistance

Water resistance, floats and jets add load as you heal — strength without the impact of land training.

Transition to land

We graduate you to our training floor so pool gains become real-world strength and confidence.

Is this for you

Who it’s for

If pain or surgery has made land exercise feel impossible, the pool is where your recovery starts.

  • Post-operative patients cleared for water-based rehab.
  • Arthritis sufferers who can't tolerate land exercise.
  • Athletes maintaining fitness through injury.
  • Elderly patients rebuilding balance and leg strength safely.
  • Anyone whose back or knees flare up with every workout.

Hydrotherapy isn't just "swimming". It's a structured, physiotherapist-supervised rehab programme that happens to take place in water — every session is prescribed from your assessment.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know how to swim?

No. Hydrotherapy exercises are done standing or supported in chest-deep water — swimming ability isn't required, and your therapist is with you throughout.

What should I bring?

Swimwear, a towel and a change of clothes. We provide the rest — floats, resistance equipment and poolside support.

Is the water warm?

Yes — therapeutic warm water, which relaxes muscles and eases stiff joints far better than a cold pool.

Who shouldn't do hydrotherapy?

We screen everyone first. Open wounds, uncontrolled blood pressure, certain heart conditions and waterborne-infection risks need clearance — we'll advise honestly at assessment.

Recover in water. Return stronger on land.
